More than 200 free holidays are being donated this year to support military personnel and their families in need of rest and recuperation.

Parkdean Resorts, which runs 66 family-friendly holiday parks around the UK, has donated almost £450,000-worth of breaks to the forces community since 2021.

The scheme is being run in partnership with the Army Central Fund (ACF), Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF).

ACF director Caroline Crewe-Read welcomed the donation. “For serving Army personnel, the opportunity to enjoy a respite break at one of Parkdean Resorts’ holiday parks provides much-needed time for families to reconnect after a deployment, or to recuperate from health or other welfare issues,” she said.

“Improving the physical, mental and social wellbeing of those serving is central to the Army Central Fund’s mission, and we are delighted to partner with Parkdean Resorts and the Army to ensure these holidays are enjoyed by those facing the most challenging of times.”

Respect for resilience

Steve Richards, the holiday firm’s chief executive, said: “We have so much respect for armed forces families for the resilience they show and sacrifices they make, facing unique challenges and standing strong behind those who serve.

“Bringing families together and creating unforgettable memories is at the heart of everything we do, so we’re delighted to give back to armed forces families by providing them with the opportunity to spend good quality time together.”

As well as free accommodation, families also receive 30 per cent off food and drink during their stay. Service personnel should go to the weekly Regional Command Personnel Downrep or the Army Briefing Note to apply for one of the free breaks.
