THE RANGE of allowances open to soldiers in established long-term relationships has expanded to bring them more into line with colleagues who are married or in civil partnerships.

The changes, introduced on 1 May, are expected to affect around 20,000 personnel. Claims are managed by unit HRs and soldiers should make sure their longterm relationship status is registered on JPA.

The allowances are Disturbance Expense, Duty Travel, Get You Home, Home to Duty, HM Forces Railcards, Longer Separation Allowance, MOD passport provisions, Movement and Storage of Personal Effects and Subsistence.

There’s more information about the changes on Defnet and Defence Connect.
