MORE THAN £500,000 is being invested to expand the Victim Witness Care Unit (VWCU) to support around 100 additional cases each year.
Specialist Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) teams at Catterick Garrison and HM Naval Base Devonport are also planned to prevent unacceptable behaviour and sexual violence in the Armed Forces.
The investment will create five permanent new posts within the unit, including victim liaison officers.
The VWCU provides independent support to victims and witnesses of serious crime and operates independently from military chains of command.
