SCHOOLS will soon be required by law to make appropriate arrangements for supporting pupils with severe allergies and long-term conditions such as diabetes and asthma.

The change in legislation follows months of campaigning by the Anaphylaxis Campaign and the Health Conditions in Schools Alliance and will be supported by new statutory guidance.

While many schools already offer excellent care for children with health conditions, there are numerous examples of pupils who experience avoidable ill-health and are unable to fully participate in their education.
