CHILDREN of serving parents can tap in to new resources from charity Little Troopers designed to support them at school and helping to connect families when a parent is away from home.

Free app Little Troopers Treasures, available exclusively to military personnel, features a range of much-loved children’s ebooks and allows the serving person to choose a book for their child and record a video reading synchronised to the pages turning. The project has been completed thanks to a £10,000 grant from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

Ann-Janine Murtagh, executive publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books, said: “We are proud to partner with Little Troopers on this wonderful project which will allow children to connect with their parents and enjoy the magic of a story even when they are separated.”

Little Troopers has also launched a resource pack for primary schools to help them talk about the military in class and provide extra support.

Louise Fetigan, founder and operations manager at Little Troopers, explained: “My daughter has had five different schools in the last five years due to our military movements and I have seen first-hand how hard this can be. Little Troopers at School is a new project to empower parents and help schools to ensure Service children are supported as best they can be.”
