Ivan Holme, whose father recently left the Royal Engineers, is taking a fully funded multi-trade course, learning practical and theoretical skills in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, brickwork, plastering, painting and decorating, and tiling. He’s also gaining onsite work experience and access to employment opportunities.

“I think the course is fantastic as a taster of the construction industry to work out which trade I would like to progress in,” explains Ivan.

“I like the fact that I can learn different trades whilst gaining a professional City & Guilds qualification.”

Ivan was surprised by the array of pathways available. “There are a range of opportunities in trainee site/project management, traineeships in all the multi trades we are learning, self-employment opportunities with Building Heroes Property Services, property maintenance roles, as well as logistics and Health and Safety.”
