RFEA – The Forces Employment Charity is expanding its support for ex-servicewomen, military spouses and partners.
On 24 November, the charity will be hosting a new webinar, Empowering You, led by business leaders from big-name organisations such as Amazon and Vodafone. They will share tips on understanding your skills and capabilities; how to stand out and market yourself effectively; resilience in a COVID-competitive job market; flexible working and employment opportunities and initiatives to boost employability.
The charity now has two programmes providing tailored support, the Military Women Programme for ex-servicewomen, and the Families Programme for military spouses and partners. These provide the tools to be successful in an employment search, including CV advice, interview skills and help with finding suitable employment opportunities.
Research shows that partners and spouses of those serving in the armed forces, as well as female veterans, face more barriers to finding meaningful employment than most. Frequent moves, relatively isolated locations, employer reluctance and the complexities of building a normal career often mean that many military spouses and partners can also often face unique challenges getting back into work.
Alistair Halliday, chief executive of RFEA, says: “Times are really tough for a lot of people at the moment, so it’s so important that we are able to reach those who need our help and we wouldn’t be able to do this without the generous support of our donors. We are extremely grateful to the Call of Duty Endowment and Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund.”
