Members of the local workforce at Brunei Garrison had an introduction to the proud heritage, rich traditions and distinguished history of Nepal during a three-day introductory culture and language course.
The initiative aimed to enhance awareness of Gurkha culture and mutual understanding between the Gurkhas and the local Bruneian workforce.
Students had lessons on Gurkha culture and grammar, visited the garrison temple and met Nepalese families.
They were briefed on the history and ethos of the Royal Gurkha Rifles from the most senior Gurkha officer, Gurkha Major Dillikumar Rai MVO.
The course ended with a hands-on Gurkha ‘messing’ lesson, where the students learned to prepare a traditional Gurkha curry.
