US MILITARY family organisation Blue Star Families has taken an important step in strengthening support for British military families living in America, building on its core belief that service families should feel a sense of belonging wherever they are posted.
The organisation recognises life overseas can be challenging. For the UK military families currently based across the US, distance from home can bring isolation and uncertainty.
In response, Blue Star Families has partnered with the British Defence Staff Support Group (BDSUS) based in the British Embassy in Washington to allow British families in the US access to Blue Star Families support and community resources.
The partnership was launched in March 2026 at the embassy and brought together senior military leaders, community figures and families from the UK and the United States.
The event highlighted the close relationship between the two nations, not only in Defence but in their shared responsibility to support the people behind the uniform.
At the heart of the initiative is the Blue Star Neighborhood platform – an online hub that offers access to resources, guidance and networks that help families navigate everyday life, from finding support services to building local connections.
The launch also brought together leaders and advocates including His Majesty’s Ambassador Christian Turner, Defence Attaché Chris Mullen, Major Nathan Buchanan RM, and Kathy Roth-Douquet, CEO of Blue Star Families. bluestarfam.org
