THE Army Families Federation (AFF) is delighted to have won a prestigious silver award celebrating its role in supporting army families around the world.

The Employer Recognition Scheme’s awards are a public acknowledgement by the MOD of an organisation’s efforts to pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to the armed forces community.

Winners have all signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant which honours the fundamental principle that no member of the armed forces community should be disadvantaged.

Commenting on the award, AFF chief executive Sara Baade said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this. Employers have a really important role to play in ensuring the families of those serving have meaningful and successful careers and we are very proud to support that agenda through our day-to-day work, but also as an employer.

“As part of our efforts, we have recently been working, together with the Naval and RAF Families Federations, to develop a website [Forces Families Jobs] which will be the go-to place for training and employment for service families.”

Forces Families Jobs  goes live on Tuesday 17 September.

“All the companies advertising jobs have signed the Armed Forces Covenant or are able to demonstrate their commitment to the armed forces,” said Sara. “Military family members will be able search by job sector or location, and they can even use a filter to identify companies which have won Employer Recognition Scheme awards.”

A total of 220 employers have already signed up to the site, including Santander, Amazon UK and Royal Mail.
