WHETHER tea or coffee, one lump or two, why not make your morning tea break really count this October by holding a SSAFA Big Brew Up – the perfect way to bring together your friends, family and colleagues while raising vital funds to support our Servicemen and women and their families?

Tea for our troops!

Wherever you are in the world there’s nothing like a cup of tea to remind you of home. From Afghanistan to Akrotiri, Brunei to Birmingham, this year’s campaign will take place from October 6–12 and will be bigger than ever.

Verity Maylam, SSAFA’s Big Brew Up Coordinator, said: “Whether you want to hold a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, a G&T party or a Big Breakfast Brew Up, it’s so easy to register and there are loads of materials on our Big Brew Up website to help make your event extra special.

“All the money raised will help us provide direct practical assistance to both serving and former members of the Armed Forces and their families whenever and wherever they need it.”

Kate Burgan, whose brother was killed in Afghanistan in 2011, said: “The support groups give us some grounding and a common place where we can support each other and share what we’re going through – we didn’t have that before.

“It’s like an extended family to us. We can talk about anything when we get together with the other siblings; there are tears and laughter and we’re able to say things that we might not always want to share with other family members or parents, as we don’t want to worry them.”
