The Army Central Fund is looking for a new trustee with investment management experience to help ensure its long-term financial health.

The charity gives out around £3m a year in grants to military commands and UK-registered charities to improve the lives of army personnel and their families, and it wants someone who can provide guidance on the oversight of its investment portfolio and join in strategic decision-making.

It is aiming to attract candidates with a background in areas like defence, charity finance and portfolio performance.

ACF provides funding for projects that offer support for families, community facilities, sport, children’s welfare and injured personnel.

One of the organisations to benefit from an ACF grant is AFF. Others have included the neurological gym at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Stanford Hall, Military Wives Choirs, and Home-Start UK.

The voluntary role lasts for an initial three years and involves a commitment of around four or five days per year. To register interest or to arrange an informal discussion, please contact Caroline Crewe-Read, Director, Army Central Fund at director@armycentralfund.org.uk. Interviews will be held at the Victory Services Club in London on Monday 10 March.

More information about the vacancy can be seen on the Confederation of Service Charities website.
