As the latest academic year draws to a close, pupils – and staff – share their secrets on successfully settling in their new surroundings. Here, Jemima Cullinan and Henry Perry, year 3 boarders at Farleigh School – tell us how they have been getting on…

How have you found your first year at the school?
Both: It’s been really good and lots of fun

What have you enjoyed the most?
Playing in the woods and outside in the grounds; and tuck on Wednesdays! Henry really enjoys being in Year 3 and likes his teacher, Mrs Reeves.

What new skills or hobbies have you picked up?
Both: The boarders went bowling which was great as we’d never done that before.
Jemima: I’d never played hockey, rounders or netball before so I have been learning how to play them.
Henry: I had played rugby, but never played proper matches and I enjoy going with the team to play against other schools.

What did you find was the biggest challenge?
Henry: Finding new friends, but it didn’t take that long.

What advice would you give to someone starting at the school in the next academic year?
Both: You will really enjoy yourself, so don’t worry about coming to a new school.
