STARS of the new Dad’s Army film attended a special screening with troops at Joint Forces Command, Chicksands, just before the film’s UK release.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays journalist Rose Winters, and Blake Harrison, aka Private Pike, met military personnel and families at the SSVC Forces Cinema on the base in Bedfordshire.

Introducing the film to the audience, Catherine Zeta-Jones said: “It’s very British humour and about being able to laugh at yourself. It’s a timeless comedy and beautifully written. I think the military will enjoy the craziness and silliness of it all and also the stiff British upper lip.”

Addressing the Forces and their families, she added: “Thank you for the service you give and all that you do for your country.”

Jennifer Holdford, cinema operations manager for SSVC Forces Cinemas, added: “We were thrilled to host Catherine and Blake at our Forces Cinema at Chicksands and very grateful to Universal Pictures for helping us to bring this iconic film to the home of some of our serving British Forces before the film’s release.”

Dad’s Army was released in UK cinemas on Friday 5 February. To see video clips of the stars at Chicksands, visit www.forces.tv
