FISHING for Forces (FFF) is a charity that takes serving soldiers who have returned from operational tours, as well as ex-Servicemen, for a day’s fishing mentored by experienced fisherman.
The charity believes that the therapeutic qualities of fishing can offer rest and relaxation, even if your soldier has never fished before.
Their latest event was held at Sportfish, Theale, near Reading and amongst the mentors providing expert instruction was TV celebrity and keen fisherman, Chris Tarrant.
Officers and soldiers from The Rifles, 11 EOD Regt and 43 PRU were amongst those who experienced fishing at the venue, which also part sponsored the whole day’s activities including a lunchtime hog roast.
Engraved FFF tankards were given as prizes to the soldier who caught the biggest fish and netted the heaviest bag.
