DID you know that a new allowance for laundering uniforms has been agreed between HM Revenue and Customs and the MOD?

The annual allowance for the Army is £100, which can be backdated from 6 April 2008. You will get the full allowance for each year of your soldier’s service; it will not be reduced if they started or ended part-way through a year.

The allowance will be given by amending your soldier’s tax code for the 2013 to 2014 tax year. In most cases the revised tax code will have been used against their March 2014 pay. Please note that Officers come under different terms and conditions.

For more information, go to www.gov.uk and search for Flat Rate Expense Allowance.
