THERE’S still time to nominate someone special for the Family Heroes Awards, run by national children and families charity 4Children, in partnership with Take a Break magazine.

The annual awards celebrate unsung heroes across the country, that go above and beyond to support children and families through tough times.

Who can you nominate?

The awards are open to everyone, from people who support families, to those who self-sacrifice to care for their own family.

12 regional finalists will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to London to attend the glamorous ceremony in November, as well as having their story featured in Take a Break magazine. From these, one inspirational winner will be chosen as the overall National Family Hero 2014 and thanked for their selfless devotion with a cash prize of £5,000.

Anne Longfield OBE, Chief Executive of 4Children, said: “With recent 4Children research showing that most people feel that family life is harder now than it was twenty years ago, it’s clear that for many, life remains an uphill battle.

“That’s why it’s more important than ever to find and thank those people who help others through difficult times – often without realising what their actions mean to those around them.”

What makes a family hero?

If you know someone who has shown amazing courage to protect or support a family member, or has helped a young person turn their life around, then show your appreciation by nominating them for this prestigious award; nominations close on 31 August.
