A GROUP of Army wives from Twickenham, nicknamed the “Twickers ladies”, have completed the Great South Run in Portsmouth in aid of the Forces Children’s Trust.

The ladies, whose husbands are based at the Royal Military School of Music, completed the ten-mile course in tough weather conditions finishing in under two hours – a fantastic achievement!

In total the wives have raised £1,808 for the Forces Children’s Trust, a charity devoted to helping children whose father or mother has died, or has sustained life threatening injuries whilst serving as a member of the British Armed Forces.

Their fundraising activities have included not only the race but also a cake sale, race night and raffle held at Kneller Hall. Twickers lady Rachel Teggarty said: “The race day was tough but the achievement was immense, and we are over the moon with our fundraising total. We would like to thank all our families for their devoted support.”

The ladies are extremely grateful for all generous donations received and money raised for the Forces Children’s Trust. To find out more about the charity, including how you can support them, visit www.forceschildrenstrust.org
