SUTTONS Seeds has teamed up with SSAFA to launch one-off packs of field poppy seeds to commemorate the World War One Centenary and the sacrifice made by more than 800,000 Service personnel who lost their lives.

Gardeners who purchase the packets of seeds will have the chance to sow their own poppy memorials and at the same time raise money for SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national military charity, which supported families on the home front during WWI.

In 1914 alone, more than one million families were helped while their men went off to war.

Support the work of SSAFA

For each £1.99 packet sold, a donation of £1 will be made to help continue the work carried out by over 6,000 SSAFA volunteers across the UK, who provide face-to-face practical, emotional and financial support for current serving, veterans and their families.

Deborah Easlick, Director of Fundraising at SSAFA, said: “SSAFA is incredibly thankful to Suttons Seeds for allowing us to benefit from this special tribute.

“Sowing just one packet of poppy seeds will allow people to show their respects to those who lost their lives, whilst also showing their support for those who are dealing with the impact of more recent conflicts.”
